After a period of use, limescale can accumulate at the bottom of the kettle. This affects the quality of the water after each boil. Therefore, you need to clean the kettle periodically to remove the residue.
You don’t need to spend a lot of time and effort to scrub, with just simple ingredients available at home, you can clean the residue in the kettle.
Use vinegar or lemon
Vinegar and lemon both have acid as the main ingredient, which helps dissolve limescale in the kettle. You can pour vinegar or use a thinly sliced lemon into the kettle. Add a moderate amount of water (about half the kettle is fine). Turn on the kettle and boil the water. Let the water in the kettle boil for a while before pouring the water out. Rinse the kettle with clean water.
Vinegar and lemon not only help remove dirt but can also deodorize the kettle (if any).
Use baking soda
Put a spoonful of baking soda in the kettle, add clean water and boil for a few minutes.
To increase the effectiveness, you can mix baking soda with a little water or beer. Apply this mixture evenly to the bottom of the kettle or areas with deposits, use a towel to gently rub the residue off. Rinse the kettle with clean water.
Use carbonated soft drinks
Pour a can of carbonated soft drinks into the kettle and soak for about 1 hour. Then, pour out the water and use a clean towel to wipe off all the residue, rinse the kettle with clean water.
To increase the effectiveness and shorten the cleaning time, you can pour carbonated soft drinks into the kettle and boil it. While the water is boiling, use a wooden spoon to stir the bottom of the kettle. Do this for a few minutes and then rinse the kettle with clean water.
