Prepare the Cake:
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round baking pans, making sure they are well coated to prevent sticking.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, sift together the flour and salt. Add the sugar and whisk to combine.
- Melt Butter: In a medium saucepan, combine the butter and water. Heat over medium heat until the butter is fully melted and the mixture begins to boil.
- Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients: Pour the hot butter mixture into the flour and sugar mixture. Stir until smooth.
- Add Remaining Ingredients: Stir in the baking soda, buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix until the batter is smooth and well combined.
- Bake: Divide the batter evenly between the prepared baking pans. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cakes comes out clean.
- Cool: Remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool in the pans for 15 minutes. Then, turn the cakes out onto wire racks lined with parchment paper to cool completely.
