The trick is to use a sturdy steel spoon to open conventional cans.

The process is simple: hold the can firmly on a stable surface and place the edge of the spoon against the lid, right where the metal seal forms.
Then, vigorously rub it back and forth with constant pressure until the metal begins to wear away. In just a few seconds, the spoon penetrates the aluminum.
Once a small opening is made, you can continue piercing the edge until you can lift the lid completely.
