4. Braiding and Rising
- Form Rolls and Strings: Roll each oval-shaped piece into a roll, then stretch it out into a string-like shape.
- Braid the Bread: Braid the strings together to form a braided loaf. You can get creative with different braiding techniques or shapes!
- Second Rise: Place the braided dough on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover it with a towel and let it rise for another 30-40 minutes until it becomes puffy.
5. Brushing and Baking
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 190°C (375°F).
- Brush with Egg: Beat 1 egg and brush it over the top of the bread. This will give the bread a beautiful golden-brown crust as it bakes.
- Bake: Bake the bread in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the bread sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
Slicing and Serving
- Cool and Slice: Allow the bread to cool on a wire rack for a few minutes before slicing.
- Indulge: Slice the bread and enjoy its soft texture and delightful flavor! Serve it warm with butter, jam, or even as a side to your favorite soup or salad.
