Trump remained characteristically composed after the attempt on his life, calling it “incredible” that such an event could happen.
“I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear,” Trump wrote on his platform, Truth Social, following the incident. “I knew immediately that something was wrong when I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and felt the bullet ripping through my skin.”
“It is incredible that such an act could take place in our country,” he added.
Crooks was shot dead by Secret Service agents seconds after opening fire. Trump was immediately shielded by agents on stage and rushed away for treatment.
