While the incident was shocking, Trump has appeared in public several times in the weeks since, seemingly unaffected by the assassination attempt. However, his wife Melania has now made a bold statement regarding the shooting in a video shared on her Instagram page, claiming that “there is more to the story.”
“The attempt to end my husband’s life was a horrifying and distressing experience,” she said in the video, speaking directly to the camera. “Now, the silence surrounding it feels heavy. I can’t help but wonder why law enforcement didn’t apprehend the shooter before the speech. There is definitely more to this story, and we need to uncover the truth.”
The video ends with an image promoting her upcoming memoir, Melania, set for release in October.
Melania’s statement comes after additional details about the assassination attempt emerged. U.S. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle called the incident “unacceptable.”
