The shirt depicts an image of Donald Trump wearing sunglasses adorned with the US flag, as he flips the bird with both hands. The writing on the shirt says, “Hawk Tuah, spit on that thang” – a reference to the viral video starring Hailey Welsh.
As the man is removed from the plane by an attendant, she turns to say: “And this is her reporting — stupid-a** Wendy.”
VT has reached out to Delta for comment on the incident.
Although the video’s caption claimed that the man was “kicked off [because] of his Trump shirt”, many commenters were quick to comment that the man was most likely removed due to the vulgarity depicted on the shirt, rather than its connection to the former president.
“I’m guessing, as others have said, it is a lot more about the vulgarity of the shirt – not the Trump aspect,” one person stated.
A second added: “I have a shirt that says ‘Pants are bulls***’ and the FA told me I had to change it, flip it inside out or leave the plane. No different here, it has nothing to do with Trump, it’s the vulgar nature of the attire.”
