Materials Needed:
White vinegar or bleach
Baking soda
Microfiber cloth
Toothbrush (optional)
Water
Cleaning rag or sponge
Steps to Clean Your Washing Machine:
1. Clean the Drum and Gasket:
Front-Loading Machines:
Mix equal parts of white vinegar and water in a spray bottle.
Spray the inside of the drum and the rubber gasket around the door with the vinegar solution.
Use a microfiber cloth dampened with vinegar solution to wipe down these areas thoroughly.
If there is mold or stubborn residue, scrub gently with an old toothbrush dipped in vinegar solution.
Leave the door open to air dry after cleaning.
Top-Loading Machines:
Fill the washer with hot water to the highest level.
Add 1-2 cups of white vinegar or bleach (never mix vinegar and bleach together) directly into the water.
Let the machine agitate for a few minutes, then pause the cycle and let it sit for an hour to penetrate the grime.
After an hour, close the lid and let the cycle complete.
