Excessive freezing of ice in the freezer is not uncommon.
Even regular defrosting doesn’t always help, as sometimes the ice returns to its original position after just four to five days! What can you do to avoid these problems? There’s a fairly simple but effective method.
First of all, it is of course necessary to defrost and clean the freezer, because with proper care, even the oldest refrigerators only need to be defrosted once or twice a year.
The quickest and easiest way to defrost is with hot water and brine. Place a container of hot water in the freezer and prepare a solution by dissolving 2 tablespoons of salt in 1 tablespoon of water.
Pour the resulting saline solution into a spray bottle and gently spray it onto the freezer walls. A few minutes are enough for the ice to gradually begin to melt. You can lift it, for example, with wooden sushi sticks—this way you’re guaranteed not to damage the refrigerator surface.
If you need to clean and brighten plastic, you can use a mixture of hydrogen peroxide and baking soda. This simple product cleans and brightens plastic well and won’t scratch it.
